Wireless Mantra

Today when browsing through for material on Wireless LAN (WLAN) I happen to bump into 2 very good sides for this technology:

Jim Geir's WLAN Blog.

For my fellow geeks, who bumped here looking for a good tutorial on WLAN, you can visit this site

Jobs's 3 Stories

An inspiring and though provoking speech by Steve Jobs.

(Linka via Neha)

The Anglosphere Century

Good article by Mark Steyn in the Telegraph, presenting the contradictions within China which ultimately is going to pull it down.

Equally I am skeptical on Steyn being bullish about India because India itself finds itself surrounded by a myriad of problems.

500Rs Chapathi?

Terrific article on the siachen stand-off between India and Pakistan by Col Athale. The highlight of the article is the following:

Strategically, tactically, it is a useless piece of real estate.

The cost is horrendous, a chapatti delivered to a soldier there cost
Rs 500. Even the excreta of soldiers manning these posts has to be
lifted by helicopters and brought to base for disposal!

We a nation who cannot afford to feed more than half of our population with a day's chapatti, deliver the same to our soldiers at an horrendous cost. No piece of real estate, however priceless it may be, should be ever be so high-maintenace.

No place to hide

Yup, if you consider ad's to be adversity. I have some Google Ads running on my page and I didn't think much about them when I had initially put them up on my page. But, somehow, today boredom made me catch a glimpse on the text-ads on top of my blog and that made do this.

Searching through the results I came across this site playing guru on how to make money through your websites. Actually, the chapter on 'How to promote your site' seems to be good.

But, the search led me to this blog by John Dvorak on Absurd Paid Ads. As one of the perpetuators (WoW! atlast a term that rhymes with my blog address) of this crime, I closed the page disagreeing less.

PS: This blog has been purely put in place to derive home some traffic. Afterall, its money honey :-).

Blog-Ad War

I just happen to notice a site(in beta testing) called Blogads. They are positioning themselves as the alternate to Google AdSense. So, for all high-traffic bloggers like Amit, Jabberwock, Madman can probably jump onto this bandwagon and make some moolah, for expressing their thoughts online.

Kittens -> Fax -> Fire

Are you zapped by the connection? If so, read this interesting story on reuters on the rendezvous of two kittens onto their master's fax machine. If you aren't, then add a comment right away as to any other freakish incident that you might have come to know.

'How to start a startup?'

For all those dreaming/scheming/plotting(wow!! thatz a cool list of sinister words) to become the next Gates or Jobs, I would recommend going through this site It really opens up vistas that our mind might not have fathomed and would probably help you prioritize things before you actually open that garage(apartment - if I have to go by Paul's advice) for your venture.

PS: Don't miss the Index, even if the topic above doesn't interest you.
